Kahuna

Kahuna bodywork is a unique practice where the body is massaged with oil in long, sweeping strokes. The practitioner uses their hands, arms and elbows to apply soft and deep tissue massage whilst moving around the table. Many techniques are used to stretch muscles, improve myofascial tension, restore postural balance, improve mobility and reduce pain. Music is played and the practitioner attunes the flow of the massage to harmonise the various rhythms within the clients’ body, mind and soul.

This beautiful form of bodywork provides a holistic approach to healing by balancing the body-mind in its physical, emotional and spiritual dimensions to bring about a deep sense of well-being.

Kahuna is a deeply nourishing massage during PREGNANCY in which deep mind and body relaxation fosters the connection between mother and child. It can ease muscle aches and pains as well as help alleviate any stress and anxiety a mother may have about her journey. It is especially helpful for preparing the mother and her body to birth her baby and so is often used towards the end of pregnancy. Kahuna pregnancy massage can be received any time after 12 weeks of pregnancy.

Mizan

Mizan is an Arabic word that means balance, this therapy aims to restore physical, emotional and/or spiritual balance in our lives.

Mizan includes a gentle, external massage (mostly around the abdomen area) that brings healing and vitality back to the abdominal area.

As blood, lymph and chi (energy) flow to the womb increases it allows the womb to sit in her ideal position and function at her optimum thus improving menstrual problems and fertility.

The massage techniques can also help with digestive issues and improve gut health which in turn influences the bodies’ immunity.

Mizan can ease tense muscles and fascia or help with scar tissue after abdominal surgeries including hysterectomy and caesarean section.

Not only is Mizan a deeply nourishing and relaxing massage, it also offers a return to optimum health and well-being on both emotional and physical levels.

Men can also receive Mizan therapy, they benefit from increased blood supply to the pelvic and abdominal area which helps with gut health disorders and reproductive health issues

Pregnancy and Postpartum Massage

During PREGNANCY the body and mind experiences many changes some of which are easy and we take in our stride, others take a little more support.  This holistic pregnancy massage incorporates the body, mind, spirit and baby. We start our session with a journey into the mind exploring ideas or questions you may have about your pregnancy, baby, upcoming birth or family life.  Using a narrative approach combined with midwifery wisdom together we will tune into your inner strength and find the best way forward.  A full-bodied Kahuna massage follows where I work physically and energetically.  Physically on any areas of concern which can help ease pain and facilitate babies alignment, energetically we focus on integrating your intention while including the baby in a gentle nurturing massage.

INDUCTION massages follow a similar pattern and include acupressure as well as mindfulness techniques to prepare the mind, baby and body for birth.

After birth a POSTNATAL massage can be especially healing and nurturing, a wonderful way to “close” the body after its great opening.  This is a gentle massage that incorporates Kahuna and Orthobionomy which uses subtle joint compression and extension to facilitate muscular and skeletal alignment.  Babies are welcome in the space.

Orthobionomy

Orthobionomy is a gentle, non-invasive bodywork technique that aims to promote healing and balance by working with the body’s natural processes. Developed by Dr. Arthur Lincoln Pauls, an osteopathic physician, Orthobionomy combines principles from osteopathy, chiropractic, and various bodywork modalities.

The core idea behind Orthobionomy is to facilitate the body's self-corrective mechanisms. Practitioners use specific touch and movement techniques to help release muscle tension, improve joint mobility, and encourage the body to return to a state of balance. The approach is based on the belief that the body has an innate ability to heal itself when given the right support.

Sessions typically involve a combination of gentle positioning, light touch, and specific movements aimed at restoring ease and alignment in the body.
